Learning Kits

There are many learning kits available in Saskatchewan for teachers to use.  These kits come with teaching resources on a specific top, such as Treaty Education, or specific aspects of First Nation culture.

Teaching Treaties in the Classroom Kindergarten to Grade 6

This resource is available from the Office of the Treaty Commission's website.  I have not used this resource, so if anyone has experience using this, please let me know!

Royal Saskatchewan Museum Loan Kits

​

The Royal Sask. Museum in Regina has a loan kit titled "First Nations Technology". The loan kits are available to teachers across Saskatchewan for a predetermined two-week period.

Under One Sun Literacy Kit by Nelson

​

Under One Sun offers contemporary Indigenous content through a balanced literacy approach in a blended format provides rich opportunities for modeled, shared, guided, and independent reading and viewing. The series supports literacy development in Grades K-8, and provides extensive teacher support with lesson plans built on strong pedagogical foundations as well as contextual background support on content introduced throughout the series.

Bringing Métis Children's Literature to Life: Resource Kit

​

Written by renowned Métis educator, Wilfred Burton this resource kit includes 21 resources that support teaching about the Métis and utilizes strategies that foster and promote literacy development (listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and representing). The resources included bring traditional and contemporary Métis culture to life.
